We celebrated a wonderful 35th Reunion with many classmates coming back to Berkeley for the celebration during Homecoming Weekend. We were even joined by Cal’s newly minted Nobel Laureate George Smoot at our Reunion dinner. Our class gift, under the leadership of chair Jed Bullard, totaled more than $120,000 to support the Cal Fund. Thank you to everyone who attended Homecoming and supported Cal last year.

Lawrence (Lars) Klassen, who graduated with a degree in business administration, writes that after a 30-year career with the US Foreign Service in Latin America, he retired in Quito, Ecuador, where he’s General Manager of Yachana Gourmet Chocolate Company, a maker of semi-elaborated cacao and chocolate products for export to the States, Canada, and Europe. Lars especially wants to congratulate the staff of California, who somehow managed to track down his Miami P.O. box address after all these years!

We would love to hear from other classmates that California has managed to track down, and from those of you who regularly receive your magazine! There are a lot of Class of 1973 we haven’t heard from!

Anne Z. Parker, BS ’74 Conservation of Natural Resources, MA, PhD, is the Chair of the Environmental Studies Department at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She is launching a newly designed MA in Environmental Leadership set to commence in fall ’07. It is described at www.naropa.edu under the Environmental Studies Department.
