Cross-Culture Journeys
St. Petersburg, Novgorod & the Russian Countryside
With Barbara Voytek, Executive Director of the Institute of Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies, begin your exploration in Novgorod, a city that preserves the architecture, culture and art of Medieval Russia. Spend a full week in the splendidly revived city of St. Petersburg with a researcher from the Hermitage Museum as your guide. Enjoy a one day guided visit to the great Hermitage with the option of returning during your two days at leisure.
Experience the dazzling monuments of Czarist Russia: St. Isaac's Cathedral with its commanding view of the city, Peter the Great's summer palace at Peterhof, the Catherine Palace and the Church of the Spilled Blood, with its interior of stunning mosaics. Walk the city's network of lovely canals and bridges, and attend two evening performances. You may extend this trip with three days in Moscow.
