UC Berkeley has identified African-Americans, Chicano/Latinos, and Native Americans as underrepresented minorities on campus. This differs from the definition of underrepresented minorities given by FAFSA or the federal government, which includes Pacific Islander. The CAA Board of Directors has adopted UC Berkeley's definition of underrepresented minorities for the purpose of this scholarship but recognizes the right to change this definition at their discretion.
