Sports and Recreation Week:
Grown-up games for kids at heart
Sep. 6 - 13, 2009

Sign up early -- the Tennis Program for Sports & Rec Week will be limited to 100 openings. Or come to participate in our other fabulous Sports & Rec Week programs, including Golf, Hiking, Art and a myriad of fun Lair activities.

For another opportunity for high-caliber tennis -- join us at our Club Lair (Aug. 30 - Sep 6) where we’ve added a weeklong tennis program with world-class daily instruction led by USPTA and Meadowood Resort Tennis Pro Bob Klyce and his team.

Plunge headfirst into an extraordinary, high-energy vacation experience and enjoy expert instruction in tennis, hiking, golf, and fitness. And that’s where the fun starts! You’ll also revel in a great menu, nightly social events, campfire entertainment, swimming, massage (available at an additional cost), Lair-eoke, tie-dye, Lair Golf (real clubs and tennis balls!), and kayaking on beautiful Pinecrest Lake. It all adds up to an unforgettable vacation in the mountains and a tremendous vacation value.

Most importantly, you do not need to be a Cal graduate to attend!
"We love the camaraderie of the Lair!"
Tennis - Led by USPTA professionals Bob Klyce and Scott Borowiak, legendary Cal Women’s Tennis Coach Jan Brogan, and Wimbledon doubles veteran Helle Viragh lead an exceptional teaching staff that will guide you through a week of skills and strategy sessions, doubles team dynamics, instruction in point and changeover routines and evening fireside chats. In addition, we have not forgotten about your required daily dose of big screen US Open coverage or your need for evening Cal Women’s Tennis Team exhibition play.

All skill levels are welcome. And in partnership with USTA NorCal, USTA members will receive a $100 discount for the week! You’re looking for tennis heaven? You’ve found it - at 5600 feet.

Attn: 2008 Sports & Rec campers -- based on your feedback, we will not be using the Twain Harte courts. So to allow the optimal amount of play and instruction, we are limiting the number of participants for the tennis program to 100. Reservations for this program will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, so sign up early to be sure to have your spot for the 2009 session!

Yet don’t fear, as our other Sports & Rec Week programs like Golf and Hiking are not limited. All campers are invited and encouraged to participate in any of these activities and clinics during the week.

"What a relaxing, enjoyable week!"
- John (J.T.) and Christine Lewis

Hiking - You love the outdoors. You like finding your own serendipitous moments in nature. Join this wonderfully adventurous program in which our professional hiking leaders guide you to the crystalline high-country lakes and craggy mountain tops of the Emigrant and Carson-Iceberg Wilderness Areas of the central Sierra Nevada. Don’t forget your boots, your trekking poles, your sunscreen, hat, and water bottle. We will typically be exploring above 7,000 feet, altitudes at which Mother Nature likes to have some fun!

Golf - The Golf Doctor, Tony Murphy, returns to lead our very popular golfing program. Our curriculum includes on-site instruction in swing mechanics, chipping, pitching and putting, video analysis, and much more. In addition, you will enjoy beautiful late summer days at Twain Harte Executive Golf Course and Mountain Springs Golf Course in Sonora.

Fitness - Join fitness guru Ray Doubleday in a program that targets those of us who don't care for gyms, don't like traditional forms of exercise, and who don’t think of ourselves as athletic - but still wish we were in better shape. Learn scientific secrets of fat burning, back-care, (core) posture, stress management, and mental functioning in a laid back, light-hearted program that includes the very latest in physical and mental fitness principles and practices. We are also offering the latest/greatest new form of brain-based exercise that's as good for your brain as it is for your heart.
