Family Camp

Need some relaxation?

In addition to a wide selection of adult offerings in the art, nature, music, and athletic programs, each week features a special "guest speaker"—often a member of UC Berkeley's faculty or administration)—speaking on his/her topic of expertise.

Our wellness program offers yoga, pilates, meditation hikes, and fantastic massages (massages for an extra fee). The Vista Lodge, located between Camp Blue and Camp Gold, is a secluded adult retreat for enjoying the morning paper with a cup of coffee or the afternoon with a good book.

Kids love the Lair!

Cubs of all ages love spending time with other youngsters, meeting new friends, and developing a sense of independence in a secure and healthy environment.

Staff-guided activities include arts and crafts, hikes and nature games, swimming, sports of all kinds, fishing, boating, story-telling, dances, and movies. Even 2-4 year-old diaper graduates enjoy crafts, games, and music.

Night life

Evenings find campers stargazing, enjoying a staff-produced musical campfire show or singing along to old favorites at the hootenanny. Planned activities bring families together to play bingo and perform at the camper talent night. The lodges at Camps Blue and Gold are always a center of social activity as folks gather for fun and games. The tent circle campfires bring Oski families together in the evening for roasted marshmallows, stories, and songs.

Week-long sessions

The Lair family camp experience can be enjoyed in week-long sessions starting from June - September, available at Camp Blue, Camp Gold, and Camp Oski.

Mini-Week

A mini-week is the Lair family camp experience condensed into a half-week format. If your family has never attened the Lair, this is an ideal opportunity to see what all the excitement is about. Mini-weeks are offered in a 3-day or 4-day format in June at Camp Blue, Camp Gold, and Camp Oski. The Mini-Week at Camp Gold includes "Gourd Camp" where you can learn to make wonderful things from gourds.

Get-Away Weekends

Early to mid-June and early fall are beautiful times in the mountains (usually!) and the Lair is the perfect place for a weekend getaway for families, singles, and couples. These scaled-down weekends are relaxed and quiet, offering the best of the forest—peace and beauty. Join us on Friday evening for dinner and leave after Sunday lunch. You'll have access to all Lair facilities along with some adult and age group activities.

During these five special, low-key weekends (one with Gourd Camp—where you can learn how to make wonderful things from gourds), the pool, a cozy Lair tent (or a room in Bosch Hall if in Camp Oski), Lair meals, and all the great outdoors await you.

In June, enjoy the weekends in Camp Oski or Camp Gold. In September, Camp Oski is your vacation home. This three-day, intimate vacation is affordable and a great way to enjoy the scenic, nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains. Perhaps this is the year to consider a family reunion at The Lair!
