Profile of the Month:
Jim Thomsen '88 Resume |
|
I am interested in networking with individuals who have experience working with: - Startups and Small- to Medium-Size Companies
- Operations and Financial Management
- Strategic Planning
- Management Consulting
My Background: - Vice President & Division Manager for an Internet-based Training and Service Company
- Division Director of Operations & Finance for a Publicly Traded Conglomerate
- Director of Corporate Security for an Outdoor Products Company
- MBA
My Greatest Asset is I get the job done! I am a highly organized, hands-on, dynamic, and results-driven executive with extensive operations and financial management experience. I have the ability to combine significant attention to detail with focus on the broader goals and objectives of the organization to maximize productivity and quality. I enjoy providing effective leadership in a collaborative, team-driven environment, and have successfully managed sales and profitability in numerous business units.
My Last Position was Vice President and Division Manager at Parachute, Inc., a two-year-old startup in the career transition field. I developed and launched new products, managed the marketing and sales processes and established a track record of delivering superior customer service. My customer satisfaction rating was consistently over 95 percent. I directed the execution of three major product releases, managing a team of 12 employees and tightly coordinating online and conventional product delivery, growing my division into Parachute's major profit center.
I Work Best when I am building a sound strategic plan and executing it, especially when there are clear benchmarks to evaluate success.
My Dream Job Would Be working in a creative, people-oriented, high-energy environment where I can use my skills and talents to their fullest. Specifically, to be the Chief Operating Officer, or Vice President of Operations, for a small to medium size company here in the Bay Area.
My Next Step is to tap into my passion. At Parachute I had the opportunity to work closely with Dick Bolles, author of the best-selling book What Color Is Your Parachute?. I believe strongly in Dick's mantra: Be passionate about what you do and you will reach your fullest potential as an employee and as a manager.
I welcome any suggestions, leads, opportunities, or information that could be helpful in my job search. Feel free to contact me at: jthomsen@alum.berkeley.edu
Thank you,
Jim Thomsen
