Bear Profile

Alana Jordan '06

I am interested in networking with individuals in the U.S. or Italy who have experience working with: fiction or nonfiction writing, travel writing and/or administration, publishing, or fine arts, from individual writers and painters to gallery/museum administrators.

My Background:

  • Administrative/Personal Assistant
  • Associate Editorial Staff
  • Research/Creative Assistant
  • Workshift Manager
  • Student Traveler
  • Book and Music Seller
  • Online Chat Host

My Greatest Asset is ...

my love of learning and sharing. I find it so satisfying to be able to immerse myself in an environment that expects me to find and share information that can benefit myself and others. My passion and training in the the written and visual arts, as well as my travel experience, have shown me that the acquisition of all kinds of information is essential to everything from the successful plot formation in a story, detail in a painting, or itinerary in an adventure.

My Last Position was...

a Personal Assistant to an Editor. I worked on her editing projects, researched everything from cement contractors to grammar to software updates, orchestrated a large scanning project involving organizing files collected over a lifetime, scheduled events and appointments in her calendar, and assisted in her responsibilities as a landlord.

I Work Best when ...

I start my day right. I used to skip breakfast, but now I start my day by writing three pages, fixing a healthy breakfast, and taking a short walk. It may seem like an insignificant thing, but as long as I've kept up this habit, I greet my days with an energy you can't get by drinking coffee.

My Dream Job Would Be ...

one where I am able to establish great working relationships, abroad and/or at home. I would love to be in Italy, but one of the reasons why I am in love with Italian culture is because of this emphasis on relationship and mutual respect in the home and the workplace.

My Next Step is ...

to interview and embark on my career at long last. After such rewarding years at Cal, I am so excited to jump in the real world!

I welcome any suggestions, leads, opportunities, or information that could be helpful in my job search. Feel free to contact me at: alana@studioalana.com

Thank you,

Alana Jordan
