Bears Hiring Bears

by Dr. Neil Kobrin '77

A little over two years ago, The American Schools of Professional Psychology, The University of Sarasota, and the Medical Institute of Minnesota came together and formed Argosy University. There are currently 13 campuses throughout the United States. Located in Point Richmond, the Bay Area campus offers a full time doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. Additional graduate programs are designed for working professionals and include master's and doctoral level programs in Education, Business, and Counseling Psychology. Classes are held on campus one weekend a month in conjunction with online courses.

The growth of the school's programs has generated a need for additional faculty and staff and Dr. Kobrin has utilized a pool of highly qualified candidates through his alma mater. The following Cal grads are employed by Argosy and contribute quality services and education to Argosy and its students:

Andrea Lois Morrison, Ph.D. '82 – Dr. Morrison is the department head of the Clinical Psychology program.

Jennifer Selke, Ph.D. '96, '98 – Dr. Selke is an instructor for the EdD program. She received her doctorate in Educational Psychology in 1999. In 2002 she was awarded the Chancellor’s award and is currently Director of the Strawberry Canyon Youth Program at UC Berkeley.

Monica Garcia '97 – Monica is an International student administrator in the Student Services department, and a financial aid specialist.

Shireen Arshad '02 – Shireen is office manager of the Admissions Department.

New programs planned for next year include a teacher credential program, and a Master's program in Forensic Psychology. During this growth period additional staff and faculty will be hired to meet the needs of the university. Berkeley graduates are encouraged to apply for both administrative and faculty positions. Bears hiring Bears is definitely working at Argosy University!

Dr. Neil Kobrin '77 is living proof that dedication, commitment and a desire to help others achieve their goals can become a reality. A former New York social worker, Dr. Kobrin is President of Argosy University, located in the S.F. Bay Area. His commitment to helping others achieve their goals is reflected in his selection of top faculty and staff, many of whom are Cal graduates.
